Delmar Storytelling Project
IDEAL partnered with the Iowa Initiative for Sustainable Communities (IISC) and Urban and Regional Planning Professor Chuck Connerly for a project that examines the history of an Iowa community through intergenerational interviews. Graduate students in Professor Connerly’s course Community Development in the Upper Midwest worked with 4th-6th graders in Delmar, Iowa, to interview long-time local residents about the history of the community and reflect on the future.
The resulting project, told through short documentaries, examines life in the community through the eyes of its residents and asks questions about how to reinvigorate the community through development and storytelling.
